What's new?
Increases to statutory rates: new rates for statutory sick pay,
maternity, adoption and paternity pay took effect at the beginning of April.
Increased rates for the National Minimum Wage (adult and apprentice rates only),
that will take effect in October, have also now been announced.

Parental leave: the planned increase in parental leave to 18 weeks (unpaid)
will be delayed until March 2013.

Qualifying period for unfair dismissal: employees who join
you on or after 6 April 2012 now need two years' service (including statutory
notice) before they may bring a claim of unfair dismissal. Employment judges
are now able to sit alone on unfair dismissal cases.
