What's new?
Increases to statutory rates: new rates for statutory sick
pay, maternity, adoption and paternity pay took effect at the beginning of April.

Qualifying period for unfair dismissal: employees who join
you on or after 6 April 2012 now need two years' service (including statutory
notice) before they may bring a claim of unfair dismissal. Employment judges
are now able to sit alone on unfair dismissal cases.

Changes to RIDDOR: as from 6 April 2012, the trigger point for reporting
incapacity increased to absences of more than seven days.
